when   his   beloved   dog   mac,   which   hellboy   had   since   childhood,   he   had   no   one   to   talk   to   about   his   emotions.   with   an   organizational   restructure   going   on   within   the   short-staffed   B.P.R.D.   most   of   his   friends   were   off   on   assignment,   the   professor   became   secretive   and   was   handling   personal   investigations,   and   then   without   time   to   grieve   hellboy   himself   was   getting   shipped   off   to   Mexico   on   a   mission   himself.   this   eventually   led   to   him   befriending   a   trio   of   luchador   brothers   and   going   on   a   drunken   bender   for   months   on   end.   together   they   traveled,   drank,   and   hunted   vampires   that   had   been   plaguing   Mexico.

this   bender   only   grew   worse   when   the   brother   he   was   closest   to   was   turned   into   a   vampire   and   hellboy   was   forced   to   slay   him.   eventually,   the   professor   had   enough   of   hellboy's   absence   when   receiving   footage   of   his   son   wrestling   as   a   luchador   and   agents   were   sent   to   drag   him   back.

during   his   time   away   not   only   had   the   investigator   become   a   luchador.   he'd   also   starred   in   a   movie   where   he   played   the   devil.   accidentally   gotten   married   to   a   demon.   and   went   searching   for   a   fabled   treasure.   and   we   discovered   he   looks   good   in   a   poncho   and   sombrero.

Did you know that Doug Jones wasn't the original voice of Abe Sapien? They had David Hyde Pierce (from fraiser) dub the voice for the first Hellboy movie, but he refused credit because he wanted Doug to get all the credit for the character

Yes i do. Doug doesn't like that question lol 😅 many people ask him that on cons. Everytime i watch a interview of his i really hope no one asks that question and someone does and doug goes like 😤. Althought david his voice is good, i'm so glad he agreed that doug should have done the voice because since it was him underneath the mask and that he gave the credit away. Doug later thanked him personaly for this.

Funny thing is in pans labyrinth,ok that was a dub too,but for the playback doug learned really spanish to make it more realistic lol. He also speaks french in the movie about gainsbourg his life as la gueule (i believe that is his voice?) I haven't seen that movie. His character reminds me of the sesame street count lols.

Btw the overdub makes it always superuneasy for me. Like i was so happy to hear him in hell boy 2 and the hell boy cartoons. I don't know about his other monster roles such as the angel of death and mother ghost or so. There are still a few movies i haven't seen of him.
